What there is to see

Our favorite tips for Anger and the surrounding area

Local hot spots

staufenbad-7.jpg

The heated Staufenbad Aufham-Anger is a magical little family pool that you can make the most of with small children. It's worth visiting the outdoor pool here because of the unobstructed view of our local Hochstufen mountain alone.

For climbers, there is the Hochstaufen via ferrata in the neighbouring village of Piding

You will find a marvellous playground right next to the Hans-Peter-Porsche-Traumwerk. Your little ones can let off steam in the adventure area with park railway after you have enjoyed the ‘Traumwelt’ breakfast in the Traumwerk restaurant and then strolled through the adventure exhibitions.

If you want to check the weather before your trip:

You can take a great half-hour walk around Lake Höglwörth. There is an island in the middle of the lake on which the Höglwörth monastery stands. The Hochstaufen massif can be seen in the background. In summer, don't miss the sunbathing lawn with bathing area and look out for the small waterfall!

Do you prefer cycling? Then the Bäckeralmrunde could be something for you. In around 4 hours on your bike, you will cycle through part of the UNESCO Berchtesgardener Land biosphere reserve. You will pass various refreshment stops and reach the highest point of your tour at 1,213 metres. And this tour is just one of many options.

For winter lovers

If you are our guest in winter, you can use the surrounding ski areas. You can reach ski areas such as Leogang/Saalbach and Wagrain in Austria in under an hour. Steinplatte/Winkelmoosalm, Götschen, Hochschwarzeck and many other nearby resorts also have pistes that are perfect for a day trip.

You can go on ski tours anywhere in the region. Some of the highlights include the Untersberg massif, the Sonntagshorn or the Lattengebirge.

Cultural delights

Salzbergwerk_Berchtesgaden_Ausflug.jpg

The salt mine in Berchtesgarden and the town itself are definitely worth a visit and are only 30 kilometres away from us. We still have fond memories of the trip into the mountain on the mine railway.

In the Salzburg Salt Worlds, you can experience history up close. Here you will be shown how life was organised around salt production and the influence salt has had on the development of people to this day. Definitely worth a visit!

The fairytale theme park in Ruhpolding is a must for all fairytale fans and is only 25 minutes away from us by car. Our children love the beautifully designed fairytale walk and have great fun on the rides, looking for gemstones and the carpet slide every time.

If you want to visit the historic old town of Salzburg, Mozart's birthplace or Salzburg Zoo, you don't have to drive far. Thanks to its proximity to the motorway, the beautiful city can be reached in 20 minutes from our holiday flat.

Obersalzberg is a very special place to learn and experience. Here you can learn interesting facts about the history of Obersalzberg, mainly about the mountain's role during the Nazi era. Come and have a look!

Babalu-Traunstein-2048x892.jpg

When the weather is bad, the Babalu indoor playground is a popular choice. Here, children and parents can play to their heart's content and have fun even on ‘bad’ days.

The Salzburg Festival is internationally renowned and an absolute highlight for all classical music fans. There are always interesting programmes for children and open-air events, which leave a lasting impression thanks to the phenomenal backdrop.

What we really recommend from the bottom of our hearts is a visit to the Haus der Berge. Here you can learn all about the formation of the mountains, life in the mountains and how to live safely and sustainably in harmony with the mountain world. The Haus der Berge is part of the Berchtesgarden National Park.

We would also like to recommend the Old Salt Works in Bad Reichenhall. With its proud main fountain house and fountain house chapel, the Alte Saline is considered the most beautiful salt works in the world. There is also an interesting museum about the ‘white gold’ and the salt mine.

In our opinion, the House of Nature is also worth an extensive visit. On a total of 8 areas, you can learn in a very impressive way what makes up our planet Earth, its creatures and life forms. With or without children - very well done!

For wellness addicts

The Rupertustherme in Bad Reichenhall offers water with healing Alpine brine for the skin and a fabulous view of the mountain panorama for the eyes. We love bathing and being pampered here.

You can also relax wonderfully in the AlpenSpa. Take some time out at Gut Edermann Theisendorf with its incredibly beautiful views, great pools and a fantastic sauna world. Whether it's contrast baths, massages, therapeutic treatments or cosmetic treatments.

Window Shopping

For shopping enthusiasts

Anger has several shopping facilities within a radius of 300 metres for your daily needs, such as the Neumeier and Wolfgruber bakeries or the Pickl butcher's shop. (Christoph recommends the Käsekrainer).

There is also a supermarket in the neighbouring village, which is open Monday to Saturday from 7.00am to 8.00pm.

If you fancy more, you can take a look around the premium outlets in Piding just round the corner. Here you will find brands such as Nike, Odlo, Jack & Jones, Adidas and Trigema, as well as a traditional costume outlet.

The outlets can be easily reached by car in 10 minutes. If you like it even bigger, you are sure to find what you are looking for at the Designer Outlet Salzburg. Go on a targeted search or simply take a leisurely stroll through the stores.

Lakes and hikes

Imagem3.png

Lake Thumsee is a popular bathing lake nestled in the mountain panorama within cycling distance. On hot days, it feels like you can meet the whole town on the sunbathing lawns and on SUPs in the lake. The surrounding catering facilities are the ideal complement to a relaxing day.

Imagem1.png

The enchanting Hintersee is located directly in the national park. Even the short car journey takes you directly over cow pastures and through a picturesque panorama, and the lake itself seems enchanted. No wonder, as it is located right next to the ‘enchanted forest’. In addition to boat hire and a stroller-friendly tour around the lake, we would also like to point out the (possibly longer) detour into the Berchtesgaden National Park. We will be happy to give you tips on site!

Imagem4.png

The Frillensee is a completely different story. Also known as the coldest lake in Germany, you can't simply drive up here by car and have to earn your way to this breathtaking sight by walking. You won't find any crowds here, but you will cool off not only in terms of temperature but also for the mind.

Imagem5.png

Lake Waginger See is one of the warmest lakes in the region. Its extremely shallow shores and shallow depth mean it warms up quickly, making it the ideal swimming lake for families. The numerous car parks on the shore take you to the water in just a few steps.

Imagem6.png

Königssee and St. Bartholomä are always worth a visit. Here you can hike against a magnificent backdrop, eat delicious fish, dip your feet in the cold mountain lake water, experience a boat trip or simply enjoy a coffee.
